Ethnologue: Languages of the World, currently in its fifteenth edition, edited by Raymond G. Gordon and published by SIL International, is intended to provide a comprehensive listing the known living languages of the world. It provides basic information on the languages, including alternative names and spellings of the names, numbers and locations of speakers, main references and family membership. This information is of varying degrees of reliability, depending on the information available on the language, and what is conveyed to the editor by experts. It also appears in print (see References section in the printed book for details).
